Manager Memo, a bi-weekly podcast focused on the Planning, Organizing, Leading, and Evaluating functions of Management. Leading practitioners in business, education, entertainment, and the military share their experience with listeners.

Jake, Dr. Green, England, lead singer, songwriter and fountain of energy for the Caballeros, a 60s-throwback band from Perth, Australia, explains the highs and lows of leading a band.

Dr. Green walks us through the beginnings of playing as an underage musician on the club circuit to the management musts of running a band of creative artists.

He speculates on the future of music and sees his band as filling a niche for high energy, party rock. A future where music is available and purchased, directly from the artist via bootleg tapes and sound tracks.

Dr. G covers it all, linking his stories with tales of the early Sonics, to Motorhead, Eskimo Joe, David Bowie and Lorde.

He leaves us with this wisdom – never forget to “Iron your Shirt!”

Dan Brown, Harvard grad, former QB of the Parma Panthers (Italian Football League), former National Sales Manager of Xenith Sporting Goods, current Business Development Manager of Rubicon Builders explains how a good peer group is crucial for life success. Starting with advice to "find the fit" and "write things down" Dan offers that you can't be afraid to get in front of the right people and present the "big ask." How can I learn? What are your secrets to success? Can I get a job?

Brown suggests that you have to be a little uncomfortable to experience personal growth. Notes from his Manager Memo include: "Think Big, Think Team."

Dan recommends Never Split the Difference (Chris Voss) and The Compound Effect (Darren Hardy) for additions to the business bookshelf.

Vic Jones, young entrepreneur of a print and embroidery company, relates the genesis of her business design - a Bio Pre Med at Boston College.

"At the molecular level there is beauty. Art. At the molecular level we are all the same. That led me to the idea of mer+ge."

Coming from a family of artists Vic adapted her "right brain" perspective to the left brain challenges of Biology at BC. She merged her ability to think in words with her creative side, visualizing a message of unity and compassion for all people.

Vic Jones' apparel company sells images of tolerance, inclusion & recognition of the power of diversity.

Vic shares tips for business success: write down and state your goals, work on your "Can Do's" and make them better every day, stay confident, and dig deep.
